About the Author:
I was born in Arkansas, played in Louisiana, and lived in Texas. Mostly in a small border town called Texarkana. It’s just about a mile from here to there. And you still aren’t anywhere. It’s the kind of town in which you can stand on the steps of a Baptist church and lob a rock across State Line Road to hit the front door of the liquor store. No matter how many roads you take to get out of there, it’s the kind of town that just hangs in your soul, coloring everything you do or think or say. Kind of like the small Texas town you’ll read about in A Home for Wayward Husbands. A Home for Wayward Husbands is about people surviving with the odds all against them. There’s some romance, some sex and a bit of mystery. The folks in this book are trying to keep secrets from each other and everyone knows you can’t keep a good secret in a small town. Not in any I’ve ever lived in anyway. I live with a dog and my imagination.

When the five of us decided to embark on this crazy scheme to write five interwoven stories and set them all on a tropical island, I knew I had an advantage over my Siren Sisters. Why? I actually live on an island, so I know what it’s like to live cut off from the rest of the world by a large body of water.

There’s something unique about the island lifestyle. Time moves a little slower, the people are more laid back, and no matter where you go, there’s a goodly chance you’re going to find someone you have friends in common with long before you reach six degrees of separation. I wanted to make sure some of those unique island elements were present in Breaking Point.

Lexa has spent most of her life being told that the island is a place of sin and a playground for the rich and depraved. For her, Sunset Point is a lost piece of her life she doesn’t want to recover, and the ocean that surrounds it might as well be marked with warning signs that say “Here there be dragons, beware.”

Beau and Diego love their island home and have dedicated their lives to protecting its citizens. The only thing they haven’t been able to find in paradise is a woman they can share it with. Finding the right person can be hard to do in a smaller community, but these small town detectives have faith that fate will bring them the woman they’ve been waiting for.

The character of Gladys Humphries represents that “small town” feel, island towns usually have. She’s the unofficial matriarch, the town gossip, and a force of nature. I loved creating her, and it seemed only fitting that she be the one to finally bring Lexa, Beau and Diego together.

I hope that when you’re reading Breaking Point you get a little glimpse into island living, and then swept up in the story of these three lovers looking for their own little bit of paradise.

Excerpt

“I’ve never experienced a ménage, so I can’t say if it’s better or worse than the shitty relationships I have experienced. I don’t honestly know if I could handle that kind of relationship.” Austin’s nostrils flared, and his jaw clenched at the mention of her previous relationships, and she wanted to laugh. Could he really be feeling protective of her? It seemed unlikely considering he had only known for about eighteen hours, and had grimaced at every turn while she talked about herself.

“The question is, are you brave enough to try?” Kendrick asked as he reached out and ran his finger tip down her cheek to her throat. Electricity seemed to zip from the point of contact directly to her dripping cunt, and she shivered.

Before she could formulate a response, Michael’s lips pressed against the sensitive sinew of muscle between her shoulder and throat, and she felt her body melt into him. She couldn’t have stopped it if she tried. She wanted them. All three of them. Her conscience argued with her. She wanted a serious relationship based on respect, honesty, and trust, not bodily urges or monetary benefit. Feeling her body responding to them, the other half of her brushed off the worries about the future. Clearly, the desire she was feeling for them was mutual, so what harm would a fun little afternoon tryst be?

The tickle of hair under her palm was her first realization that she had lifted her arm. Her fingers were running over Michael’s buzzed scalp, and she was clutching him to her as he ran his lips and teeth over the skin of her neck.

Kendrick was the next to step up, and without disturbing Michael’s endeavors, he took her mouth in a passionate kiss that was hot enough to melt the soles of her shoes to the deck. His lips were full and lush, and he teased her with them giving her just enough so that she was whimpering for more when he pulled back and glanced at Austin.

Her eyes lifted and met those gray pools of lust. The heat hit her like an oven blast, and she froze. This was it. In her heart she knew that this was a turning point of some sort. Austin didn’t seem like the kind of man to play with a woman’s feelings. He took himself too seriously. Right now, if he made a move she wouldn’t be able to stop the inevitable.

Austin seemed to be reading her mind as she ran through all of the possible outcomes, and again he quirked that stupid sexy eyebrow of his. Embarrassment hit her, and she frowned. “What? I’m not good enough for you, Tex? I get it. I’m an islander, and I come from a wealthy family that has to deal with the occasional media frenzy. I don’t recall offering marriage, but don’t worry, I won’t offer anything now.”

The hiss of breath from Michael and the shocked look on Kendrick’s face had her pulling back and trying to create distance again. She couldn’t even look up at Austin to see his reaction. She was way too humiliated. Stepping out on a limb had gotten her slapped back into reality, and there was no way she could avoid the embarrassment now.

She turned back to the steering wheel with the intention of turning the boat around before they got father away from the marina, but two large hands gripped her wrists like shackles. Forcing her to face him, Austin lifted her hands to his lips and brushed a kiss over each tightly clenched fist.

“Gabriella, don’t ever think you’re not good enough for me. You’re a goddess amidst commoners. I was actually second-guessing whether or not I was good enough for you. I’m a very simple man, Gaby. A blue-collar cop with a few debts, and a washed-up soldier with baggage. You come from better stock than I do, and I don’t think you know what you’re getting into with us.” She started to argue, but he cut her off. “But all of that seems to disappear when you look at me like that, love. I may doubt the future, but there is no doubt that I want you.”

Cross Point by Laurie Roma

Release Date:  Sept. 17

Guest Post: Laurie Roma

Sunset Point Island is a place of fantasy…

It is a place where ménage relationships are cherished and protected, making it the perfect backdrop for a sexy story. When I created Cross Point, I wanted a strong heroine who could love two alpha males and not get overwhelmed by them. Former IAD agent, Katrina “Trinity” Cross, turned out to be that woman…and so much more.

When Trinity meets Jackson Stone and Maxwell King, things don’t always go according to plan. To put it bluntly, she completely turns their lives upside down, but the passion that ignites between them is too powerful to ignore.

When the three of them come together it is a perfect balance. Each of them gives something to the relationship that makes them a strong, cohesive unit, filling those dark places inside their souls with light. Trinity, Jackson and Maxwell were a joy to write, and I can only hope you love them as much as I do after you read their story!

Book Blurb:

Former IAD agent Katrina “Trinity” Cross is in desperate need of a vacation. When a friend asks for a personal favor, Trinity agrees to fly to the island of Sunset Point, only to find that things in paradise aren’t what they seem…

Jackson Stone is a man who likes regulation and order, but when Katrina Cross arrives on his island, life as he knows it’ll never be the same.

Falling behind schedule is not allowed in Maxwell King’s orderly world. Missing money, cheap materials, and a dead foreman top of the list of his problems, but nothing shakes him more than the sexy siren that sets his body on fire…

As the investigation heats up, Maxwell and Jackson both fall for Trinity, but she can’t choose between the uptight corporate mogul and the rough and ready police lieutenant. Can she find a way to keep them both, or will their love become a casualty at the Cross Point?

STORY EXCERPT

The Palace Resort and Spa sat on a large plot of land, which was cleverly used to host a variety of activities, including two pools, tennis courts, and a beautiful golf course located south of the building. The new expansion plans included building a sister site on the plot of land just north of the existing location, nestled into the bay on the western side of the island.

Surprisingly, the lot was almost empty of workers, giving Trinity the time and space needed to look around. She’d parked and got out, glad she had thought to change into hiking boots to go with her jeans and simple white shirt before she’d left her room. From a brief glance at the progress, she had instantly known that the project was way off the mark. What should have been a solid foundation of the building’s structure was no more than a skeleton of concrete and wood. With a shake of her head she had worked her way carefully around the structure, wanting to get a better view of the entire site.

A man had called out to her, startling her enough to reach for the grip of the Sig Sauer hidden in the waistband of her jeans. She’d paused when she saw the security logo on his shirt and greeted him with a smile instead of a face full of Glock.

“Hi,” she’d greeted him.

The security guard frowned at her. “Ma’am. You’re trespassing. You need to leave.”

“Actually, I’m a friend of Julian King’s, one of the owners of this place. He said I could come by and check out the new project since I’m visiting the island.” Trinity had lied, not wanting anyone to know exactly what she was doing there just yet. She’d shot him what she hoped was a look of innocent concern. “It doesn’t look like much yet, though. I thought it would be further along by now.”

Trinity had noted the security guard fidgeted at that.

“There’ve been some slight delays. I’m sorry, but I’m still going to have to ask you to leave. It isn’t safe for you to go walking around here. I wouldn’t want you to get hurt.”

“No problem, Billy,” Trinity had said, flashing him another smile as she peeked at the badge attached to his pocket. She’d gotten back in her car with a friendly wave, planning to go back and see things closer after she got a better look at the records.

Hunger pains distracted her. Deciding to take the scenic route into town, she’d headed north up the western coast, knowing from her study of the island that the road would branch and take her straight into town before she hit the private villas on this side of the island.

It wasn’t more than ten minutes into her drive that she’d noticed a black jeep coming up behind her on the empty road. Fast. Too Fast. Instincts kicked in gear as she noted the mud-splattered window that obscured her view of the driver and also hid the license plate of the approaching vehicle. On the chance that she was just being paranoid she slowed her car, allowing him to pass her, and in doing so saved her life.

As she slowed, the jeep surged forward, slamming into the back of her car. Cursing at the hard jolt, Trinity used every bit of skill and experience she’d learned to keep control of the car. She pulsed her foot on the brake instead of slamming down on it, swerving slightly to slow down further. The jeep rammed her again, this time throwing her into a spin.

“Son of a bitch!”

Someone really was trying to fucking kill her!

Trinity jerked hard on the wheel, trying to counter the move. Her heart nearly stopped for a moment as the car slammed into the guardrail, the only thing protecting her from going over the cliff. Moving fast, she jumped out of the car and pulled her Sig, training it on the jeep as it quickly turned around and sped down the road. She didn’t hesitate and fired repeatedly at the rapidly departing vehicle.

Cursing again, the loud pounding of her heartbeat was joined by the low throb of a motorcycle engine coming from the same direction the jeep had fled. On guard, she turned and pointed her gun at the individual on the bike as he pulled over and parked a few feet away. Her breath hissed out for a very different reason as she got her first good look at the newcomer’s face.

Around six-three and built like a golden god, the man was wickedly good looking. Built like a prized fighter, he was packing some serious muscle and had a fierce aura about him that all but screamed cop! He had an almost shaved head that only showed a hint of dark hair that matched the five o’clock shadow covering his chiseled jaw. Intense green eyes seared into hers as the man pulled his own weapon, approaching her slowly.

“SPPD, put your weapon down.”

Damn, she was good. She’d called it right. Trinity cocked her head to the side, intrigued by the easy command in his deep voice. Never one to pass up an opportunity to poke at authority, she couldn’t help it. “Badge me.”

He froze. “What?”

Trinity grinned. “Badge me, baby, ’cause I ain’t putting this down ’til I see your brass.”

ADULT EXCERPT

“Fuck!” He let out a laugh then groaned in pleasure. “We can’t do this here.”

“Why not?” she asked, nipping at his lower lip. “There’s no one here. People can’t see us from the street. God, you’re big. So hot and hard. I want this inside of me.”

He took her lips in another scorching kiss as she used her legs to help shove his jeans down over his hips, the weight of his gun on his belt helping them to slide lower. “Katrina…”

“I want you, Jackson. Right here, right now.”

Breathing hard, Jackson tried to reengage his brain. He couldn’t fucking think with her small hand wrapped around his cock. “God, I want you, too, but I don’t have anything with me to protect you. I just had my mandatory checkup two weeks ago and I’m clean. I haven’t been with anyone since, but—”

Trinity’s hand had paused mid-stroke, but she began moving her hand up and down his thick cock again. “I’m on medical leave for an injury I sustained a month ago and I’m on the shot. I checked out clean and I haven’t had sex in months. I’m protected.”

Jackson’s breath hissed out as his cock jerked in her hand at what she was saying. He’d never fucked without a rubber before and he was tempted, truly tempted for the first time. It wasn’t smart. He’d just met this woman, but he wanted her with a vengeance that stole his breath and made his heart pound, not to mention his dick. Before he could really think about it, he found himself setting her down and ripping at the zipper of her jeans.

Wild elation filled Trinity as Jackson went to work on her jeans. His face was set in with such determination, he looked like a warrior preparing for battle. If it was a battle he wanted, it was a battle he was going to get.

It was so deliciously naughty. They were in an alley, only steps away from people who walked the street enjoying the night, but she didn’t give a damn. She yanked the gun out of the back of her jeans a second before he pulled them down past her hips. She slapped the gun on the top of the garbage bin next to her, still within reach, and started to turn around to face the wall, only to have Jackson stop her.

“No. I want to see you. If we’re going to do this, I want to watch you come when I’m inside you.”

His voice was a low rumble of sound that sent a shiver racing through her entire body. Trinity toed off one of her shoes and shoved her jeans down off that leg. With a small jump she was back in his arms, their mouths fused together, her legs wrapped around his waist again with her jeans hanging down the back of his legs. “Then do it. Come inside of me, Jackson. I wanna feel you.”

Jackson cursed low as she positioned herself over the bulbous head and pushed down, sliding the thick shaft into her hot, wet pussy. His cock was so hard it was like a spear. Her head fell back against the wall as she let out a low moan, relishing in the exquisite feeling of her muscles parting to let him inside her.

“God, you’re so fucking tight!”

He let out a low growl that brought a smile to her lips. She wanted to slam herself down on his massive cock and ride him until they were both screaming, but he was just too damn big.

Trinity felt his hands brace on her ass as he began pumping himself inside of her, in a little then out again, each time gaining more depth into her tight sheath. She lowered her mouth to his neck and licked at the skin above the collar of his shirt. She jerked as he shoved hard, spearing her completely on his thick cock until he was balls deep.

“You okay?” he panted out.

“Oh yeah, give it to me, Jackson.” She ran a hand over the sheared hair on his head and leaned back to stare into his eyes partially hidden by the darkness in the alley. Jackson’s hips pulled back then pushed forward again, never looking away from her. There was something about his eyes that made her feel like she was falling into him. Like he could see more of her than she normally allowed people to see. Pushing those troubling thoughts aside, she flexed the muscles of her pussy on his invading cock and was rewarded with a low groan from him.

“Give it to me, Jackson. Give me your big cock. Pound me into the wall.”

“Jesus Christ!”

Jackson’s hands dug into her ass in a bruising grip as he did exactly as she asked. He began pounding into her with a slow, punishing rhythm, his thick shaft rubbing against the sensitive walls of her pussy, his pelvis hitting her clit with every hard thrust.

“More, more…” she demanded as he continued to push inside her. She tightened her grip around his neck and began thrusting her hips to meet his, thrilling her with the sound of their flesh slapping against one another. They were two shadows, moving as one in the dark. Her eyes drifted closed as she gave into the pleasure, simply wanting to feel.

Bio:

Laurie Roma lives in Chicago, and is the author of the IAD Agency and Arcadian series. She has always loved immersing herself in a good book and now enjoys the pleasure of creating her own. She can usually be found tapping away on her keyboard, creating worlds for her characters while she listens to music. Of course her playlist depends on her mood…but then again, so does her writing.

An avid reader of the romance genre, nothing bothers her more than annoying characters. Seriously, who wants a happy ending for someone that pisses you off? She loves tough alpha-male heroes and strong heroines that have brains as well as beauty. Her novels are filled with both passionate romance and down and dirty lust-driven interludes, as she believes both are essential to a good love story. She loves to hear from her readers and can be reached at laurieromabooks@gmail.com.
